Network construction project at Munich Airport substation

By order of Stadtwerke München, the Network Construction Department of Josef Rädlinger Ingenieurbau GmbH took on a comprehensive construction project in August for a new client in the electricity sector. It includes the creation of a 110 kV cable connection at the new substation at Munich Airport.

The first step was the civil engineering work for a 3750 m long line and for seven sleeve trenches with a length of 15 metres for the elaborate connection of the power lines. Then cable conduits were laid along the entire distance, as well as a flatliner bundle. To allow access for the pulling in teams and the entry of the heavy cables (21 kg/metre), the network construction team also developed site roads on an area of 3000 m². In the course of the project, a 25 m long thrust bore hole had to be conducted under a main road in Freising and asphalting work on paths and roads had to be performed.

At the moment, the Grid Construction Department is in the final stages for completion in April. It has already been possible to complete the work for lowering the groundwater with 16 dewatering wells and 16 infiltration wells. The collector pipes laid for the groundwater have a total length of 1,200 m. Now, the Network Construction Department is producing the fibre optic network with a length of 4,000 m and seven cable shafts. In addition to the practical implementation, the team also supported the clients with the detailed planning and the fine line layout.
