Painting project and info point for the north bypass around Darmsheim

In October Johannes Schmalzl, District President of the Stuttgart district, visited the site for the north bypass around Darmsheim and opened an info point. Since November 2013, Rädlinger Bauunternehmen has been doing preparatory work for building a tunnel 460 metres long which will be part of the bypass. The pre-lot I was set up on behalf of the regional council (RP) in Stuttgart by July 2014; work on pre-lot II started at the end of July 2014.

Together with District Administrator Roland Bernard, the Lord Mayor of Sindelfingen Dr. Bernd Vöhringer and local mayor Wolfgang Trefz, the District President Johannes Schamlzl put the info point into operation, which has been designed to inform the population about current and planned construction work in a "citizen-friendly" way using photos and up-to-date articles. From now on, people can have the site explained or questions answered every Thursday between 2 and 4 pm by road construction experts from the RP Stuttgart.

To mark the opening ceremony for the info point, the RP Stuttgart, together with Rädlinger and Darmsheim primary school announced a special painting project. 61 children from years 1 and 3 of the primary school visited the construction site and were allowed to redesign the outsides of the office containers provided by Rädlinger Bauunternehmen for the employees of RP Stuttgart to monitor the current work and work on the tunnel, which is to begin in 2015. The project was intended to give the children an understanding of the construction site and awaken the interest and enthusiasm of the workforce of the future for the site.

The traffic situation in Darmsheim has been a permanent topic of discussion for the more than 20 years. At the heart of the discussion is Döffinger Straße, a country road used by around 20,000 vehicles every workday. About 80% of the traffic volume is transit traffic. To reduce the pressure on Darmsheim, the B464 was completed in three sections from Sindelfingen to Renningen (connection to the B295) between 2010 and 2014. The construction company Rädlinger was commissioned by the RP Stuttgart to complete two of these sections and has thus played a major role in traffic development in the Böblingen region. Within the context of the B464 measures, Rädlinger also built a new access ramp at the B464/B295 intersection and rebuilt an existing access road on behalf of the Böblingen Road Construction Office. However, the tunnel will have the greatest effect on the traffic situation in Darmsheim. Forecasts predict 40% fewer vehicles along the Döffinger Straße, with the current level of 20,000 per day being reduced to an average number of 12,000.
