Foundation stone laid for new branch of Rädlinger Ingenieurbau

Last Friday, the foundation stone for Rädlinger Ingenieurbau GmbH's new office building in the Rathmannsdorf industrial area was laid. Among the 50 guests were community leaders, neighbours, colleagues, engineering firms, the Berschneider engineering firm and building contractors.

Since the acquisition of the site from the insolvent Vilshofen Philipp Holzmann AG and the founding of the subsidiary in 2002, the number of employees has more than doubled, from 100 to 260. For managing director Helmut Schmöller it was therefore a matter of "adapting the building structures to our growth." Together with Josef and Petra Rädlinger, district administrator Franz Meyer, Mayor Franz Langer and architect Johannes Berschneider, he immured a casket at the ground-breaking ceremony, into which a daily newspaper, the building plans, the programme of festivities, some money and a rock crystal was placed. "The rock crystal stands for energy, heart, luck and good neighbourly relations", explained Josef Rädlinger regarding the symbolic content.

Since starting construction in December, the basement level has been built along with the concrete outer walls. In the coming months, the ground floor, two upper floors and a flat roof will be constructed. As from the end of 2015, around 70 people will work in the new office building, and will benefit from a planned gym and a lounge area in the basement. Following completion, the construction of a new building yard will be tackled at the new company headquarters.
