Gas pipe constructed at Stuttgart Airport

By order of the newly founded NETZE-BW (an EnBW company), the Network Construction Department of Josef Rädlinger Ingenieurbau GmbH took on the contract for the relaying or new construction of a high pressure gas pipe DN 200 in Scharnhausen area at Stuttgart Airport. The steel pipe (219.1 x 5.0 mm L290 NB) with a reliable operating pressure of 70 bar (DP70) was constructed in two sections with a total length of 1280 metres.

For the construction of the route, the topsoil was removed in the area of the working strip to a width of 12 metres, stored at the side and replaced after the laying of the pipe. The pipes were continuously welded together and lowered into the pipe trench. After the completion of the laying work, the sections of pipe were subjected to a pressure test and approved by TÜV experts.

The team from the Network Construction Department completed the pipe at the end of April, with the result that it can be integrated into the EnBW gas network on schedule.
