Inauguration of Vilshofen station with wheelchair access

The new central platform at Vilshofen station was officially put into operation at the start of February. With the successful implementation of the project “Station with wheelchair access” in Vilshofen, Rädlinger Ingenieurbau in Vilshofen demonstrated its organisational and improvisation skills.

The development of the central platform with a length of 280 m took place from May to December on one side at a time. For the development of the central platform for wheelchair access, it was raised above the top of the rails and connected to the underpass with a lift. The construction project also included the dismantling of the old platform roof and its replacement.

For the implementation of the project, the respective track on the side of the construction site was closed for a certain period; rail traffic continued on the other track. Therefore, on the one hand, access for the passengers to the platforms had to be possible at all times and, on the other hand, the supply of materials and machinery constantly had to be re-planned. In order to reach the relevant platform under construction, close cooperation with the station master was necessary.
